We have a wide variety of complex and custom-designed equipment and specialist services to supportÌýourÌýbreadth of research and teaching activity. This equipment and expertise is available to other groups within the University and also to institutions and industries in general, and we have an extensive portfolio of commercial clients to whom we have been providing analytical services for many years.
Our relationships with industry help to widen the experience of our students and increase employability. This is demonstrated by our impressive list of industrial collaborators and the diverse placement areas taken by our fourth year undergraduates.
Our academic staff also have a fantastic record of successful exploitation of research ideas into spin-out companies, with Karus Therapeutics, Ilika and ATDBio all originating withinÌýthe ºÚÁÏÉç.
A spin-out collaboration co-founded by Dr Ganesan and researchers based at Medicine for Cancer Research UK; Karus Therapeutics investigates the biological properties of a series of novel compounds that have particular interest as potential treatments for a number of different cancers.
Curve has developed a powerful and proprietary discovery platform that is being used to identify a new generation of cancer drugs with significant clinical potential.ÌýA spin-out from the School of Chemistry, Curve’s core technology was established in more than a decade of research within the laboratory of Professor Ali Tavassoli.
We have an excellent track record of innovation and enterprise. As well as working closely with many companies both in the UK and internationally to address specific challenges, we also seek opportunities to translate research originating from within Chemistry into innovative solutions, including spinning out several successful independent companies.
