Papin Prize shortlist recognises three Chemistry technicians

Four technicians from the Faculty of Engineering and Physical Sciences, including three from the School of Chemistry, have been highly commended and shortlisted for the 2021 . One technician from the Faculty of Medicine was also commended and shortlisted.

The Papin Prizes provide national recognition for technicians and help to raise the profile and status of technicians within the sector. Nominations for the 2021 Papin Prizes are made by any member of the higher education community including students, staff, collaborators and alumni.

Hundreds of individuals and teams were nominated for this year鈥檚 prestigious awards, with sixty-one technicians shortlisted for an acclaimed Papin Prize across ten categories.

Jing Lu , Diana Dias Fernandes and Thomas Ogden from the School of Chemistry were recognised as a technical team that has worked together to deliver excellence.

Jing Lu says, "I am very pleased and honoured to be shortlisted for the 2021 Papin prizes. As a teaching Chemistry laboratory technician, I enjoy my work of supporting students and will keep working hard! It is such an encouragement that our hard work is recognised."

John Ure, Cleanroom and Facilities Manager in the Faculty of Physical Sciences and Engineering,聽was recognised for his聽contribution to聽infrastructure. Janice L Coles,聽Technician in the Faculty of Medicine, was recognised for her聽contribution to research.

To have nominations in three categories, is a testament to the range of skills and experience offered by our technicians and recognises the quality and excellence of their hard work and dedication to their discipline.鈥
