Advance HE Fellowships provide recognition for your educator skills and experience. They are recognised by the University, across the UK HE sector, and increasingly in the HE sectors in other parts of the world.
Academic or ERE staff with significant teaching responsibilities are expected to achieve FHEA within a timescale set by probation regulations, or a reasonable timescale where probation is not a requirement of appointment.Ìý
The promotion for ERE staff with educational responsibilities will explicitly consider achievement of, or satisfactory progress toward, targets at the appropriate level of Advance HE Fellowship.
PREP is for staff who are experienced educators and requires submission of a compact, reflective portfolio of evidence for the recognition process. Typically, colleagues applying for fellowship via PREP will have a minimum of 3-5 years in HE at level 4 or above within the Framework for Higher Education Qualifications (FHEQ) in England, Wales and Northern Ireland, or equivalent.
To achieve fellowship, you will need to submit a portfolio based on your most recent practice which is assessed by a Review Board.Ìý
The requirement for each portfolio is based on the category of fellowship applied for.ÌýÌý
All portfoliosÌýneed to demonstrate subject and pedagogic research and/or scholarship, and ongoing commitment to professional development as an educator.
PortfoliosÌýare assessed internally by a PREP Framework Review Board, made up ofÌýstaff who are experienced educators, themselves successful PREP applicants.
To receive a fellowship, individuals must provide evidence that their professional practice as an educator meets the requirements of one of the four Descriptors.
Evidence is submitted in the form of a portfolio which must also demonstrate reflection supported by learning and teaching scholarship and continual professional development, as appropriate for the relevant Descriptor. Ìý
