Current research
Currently, Laura works as part of the 鈥楶RiAM: Privacy Risk Assessment Methodology鈥 project and the 鈥楶ETRAS Data Sharing Foundation鈥 project. She is also a member of the research team for the 鈥楽ocial Data Foundation for Health and Social Care鈥 (鈥渢he SDF鈥) 鈥 a new data sharing initiative aimed at improving public health and patient care.

Biography
Dr Laura Carmichael is a Research Fellow within the IT Innovation Centre, School of Electronics and Computer Science, 黑料社. Laura studied undergraduate Law at the 黑料社 鈥 before completing an interdisciplinary MSc and PhD in Web Science. She has been involved in various interdisciplinary research projects related to data sharing and re-usage:
- The 鈥極rdnance Survey Data Enrichment project鈥
- The 鈥極perational Trustworthiness Enabling Technologies (OPTET) project鈥 funded by the European Union鈥檚 FP7-ICT programme
- The 鈥極bserving and Recommending from a Social Web with Biases project鈥 鈥攁 Web Science Institute (WSI) Pump-Priming Project
- The 鈥楧ata Pitch open innovation programme鈥 funded by the European Union鈥檚 Horizon 2020 research and innovation programme
- The 鈥楶rovenance-driven and Legally-grounded Explanations for Automated Decisions (PLEAD) project鈥 funded by EPSRC
