Dr Omar Madhloom is Associate Professor in Law and Legal Clinic Director. He is also a practising solicitor and a Senior Fellow of Advance HE. Omar鈥檚 main area of responsibility is supervising students in the Legal Clinic and developing the Law School's Clinical Legal Education programme.

Current research
Dr Omar Madhloom鈥檚 research explores the philosophical foundations of clinical legal education. He is currently involved in two research projects. The first focuses on the benefits of applying Kant鈥檚 philosophy to clinical legal education, while the second project develops a reflective model to address implicit bias in the legal profession.

Biography
Dr Omar Madhloom joined the Law School in August 2023. Prior to joining the University, Omar was a Senior Lecturer at the University of Bristol, where he developed the Law School鈥檚 Global Law Clinic and public legal education programme. He was also a member of the University of Bristol Law School鈥檚 Curriculum Review and Athena SWAN committees.
Omar holds postgraduate degrees in jurisprudence and clinical legal pedagogy. He has developed three hugely successful university law clinics. In recognition of his contribution to pro bono legal services, Omar was shortlisted in the 鈥楤est In-house Solicitor鈥 category at the Annual LawWorks Pro Bono Awards 2023. He is also the recipient of the Association of Law Teachers鈥 Chris Gale Memorial Prize, awarded to the best joint paper presented at the conference. Omar was also a member of the QAA鈥檚 panel responsible for drafting the Subject Benchmark for Law in 2023. In December 2024, Omar won the 'Best Contribution by an In-House Solicitor' at the LawWorks Annual Pro Bono Awards.
Omar is currently a member of the Law Society of England and Wales鈥 Education and Training Committee, Equality, Diversity and Inclusion Committee, and the Law Society鈥檚 Get Involved Steering Group. He is also a trustee for CLEO (Clinical Legal Education Organisation) and Lawyers Against Poverty.
