Our Equality, Diversity and Inclusion (EDI) Mission

We��will enhance the subnational, national and international public policy impact of research conducted by �� staff and students, ensuring that Equality, Diversity and Inclusion are central to our practices.

Our EDI Vision

We will:

reflect on our role in contributing to the success of ��’s EDI goals and strategy
build our internal confidence, knowledge and expertise to facilitate best practice policy impact
develop resources and build capacity for researchers and students to consider EDI in their policy impact
inspire and facilitate change in the higher education public policy and knowledge exchange sector

EDI at the heart of��Public Policy|Southampton

EDI is at the heart of��Public Policy|Southampton and we champion the UK Government's that recognises EDI is vital to research and the research culture, particularly when it comes to the quality of research and its impact. We are proud of all the academics who have worked with us to turn their research into evidence-informed policy.

To establish our own role and responsibility in championing EDI in a genuine and impactful way, we ran a consultation exploring what our membership needed to support public policy engagement through an EDI lens. The results of the survey formed the basis of our first that ran until summer 2022.

We have developed the next iteration of this action plan to further embed EDI in everything we do, entitled 'PPS EDI Action Plan 2023-2025', and have designed it as a living document to showcase our latest and most recent efforts.
