Statistics

A laptop displaying a graph.

As part of the Southampton statistical sciences research institute (S3RI) we carry out research in methodology and substantive applications.

About

Our research is focused on the following themes:

  • design and analysis of experiments
  • statistical modelling
  • biostatistics

We have close links with statisticians and stochastic modelers across the University, especially those in the Division of Social Statistics and Demography.

We organise the S3RI Statistics Seminars. The calendar can be found S3RI Statistics Seminars and the seminars are open to all.

Southampton itself is a founding member institution for the Academy for PhD Training in Statistics (APTS) and regularly contributes lecturers to this national advanced taught course programme.

We run MSc programmes in Statistics, Statistics with Applications in Medicine, and Actuarial Science, and are partners in MSc Data and Decision Analytics
